Pocket IR Modem
Engineered, designed and manufactured in the US, the Pocket IR Modem took over 2 years to develop. Built with high grade components and manufactured to meet IPC-A-610 Class 2 and RoHS requirements ensures trouble free operation. The IrDA interface operates at 115.2 kbps at a range of up to 1 meter with virtually any IrDA enabled WinCE and Palm OS consumer and rugged devices. The benefits of the IrDA interface are that it will not occupy any physical slots on the handheld or drain the battery the way a bluetooth device will. The 32 bit ARM7 microcontroller powers one of the most widely used software stacks and supports multiple large IrDA frames. The installation is free of any drivers and software enabling rapid setup on WinCE and Palm platforms. The unit is rugged enough to withstand multiple drops on concrete from 4 feet. The modem design is based on Conexant's 3rd generation modem chipset which is globally compliant. There are the following six status LEDs:
- Power - Power on/off status
- Ring - Indicates incoming rings
- IrDA - Shows activity between the modem and the host device
- TxD - Data transmitted to the modem
- RxD - Data received from the modem
- CD - Carrier detect ( connected to remote modem or ISP )
